I've been involved in competitive sport since 1983 and began as a track runner competing at a national level over 800m until I joined the RAF in January 1990.. I discovered triathlon whilst serving and competed on and off from around 1997. I became a run coach in 2013 after leaving the military and starting a local running club. I will be completing my level 2 TRI Coach qual in 2019. I still participate in triathlon and have completed all distances over the years including 2 Ironman distance events. My passion these days though is coaching and in my veteran years it always gives me immense satisfaction to help people achieve what they often view as impossible.

BTF Level 1 Coach
I started competing in Triathlon at school and was Hong Kong Ironkids champion in 1990. I got back into Triathlon a few years ago, I have completed four Ironman distance events and a few 70.3 events. I’m a British Triathlon Federation Level 1 coach and love to help club members improve their skills and achieve their goals, especially those new to the sport.

I started my journey as a runner then had my first go at a triathlon in 2012, for the next few years I just did Sprint & Olympic distance events. By 2017 I had started to improve & entered my first middle distance triathlon, The Cotswolds, which was my biggest race to date. Am training for Outlaw in 2019 which is a full distance triathlon. My favourite event was Storm The Fort, a long distance duathlon that tested me both physically & mentally!
In 2018 I became Club Chairman & a Triathlon Coach. Am very committed to the club, and I am passionate about seeing people succeed in their goals

First dabbled with Triathlon in around 2003 whilst living in London, in an oversized windsurfing wetsuit, MTB with road tyres and likely trainers with too many miles in them. But it took until 2008 and a chance meeting with a 17 time Ironman who'd just got back from Race Across America, that I got properly introduced to the sport. Entered my first full Ironman (Switzerland 2009) without actually knowing entirely what it entailed, and have completed 5 more. Qualified to race my first European Championships in 2011 and have qualified for GB 10 times since. Have raced on Team MaccaX, founded by Chris McCormack, since 2013, so have been fortunate enough to meet and learn from a host of professional athletes & coaches. A few race highlights being Challenge Roth in 2014, despite melting in the heat, Ironman 70.3 World Champs in Zell am See 2015, the first outside of the U.S, and the inaugural Super League Jersey for an out and out weekend of a lifetime, both racing and socialising with the professionals. Still plotting out the race schedule for 2019 whilst enjoying sharing and helping others with their journey & progression within Triathlon.
